As a former Chief Compliance and Ethics Officer, Lynn Barrett had responsibility for a large health system’s compliance with HIPAA laws and regulations. In this capacity, Lynn conducted or oversaw HIPPA investigations, analyzed whether certain acts or omissions constituted breaches and, if so, drafted breach letters and notices, drafted Business Associate Agreements, wrote and help implement HIPAA policies and procedures, and created and conducted HIPAA training. Building on this in-house experience, Barrett Law advises covered entities as well as business associates on how to comply with HIPAA’s privacy and security rules. It creates HIPAA compliance programs, policies and training programs. It helps providers conduct risk assessments, implement practical solutions to minimize risks, and respond to OCR audits and investigations. Barrett Law also advises providers on HIPAA issues related to transactions and due diligence, including drafting representations and warranties on privacy and security-related matters and reviewing existing HIPAA related policies and procedures.
